The Texas Rangers’ front office made a series of bold moves on Wednesday, aiming to inject life into the team’s struggling offense. General Manager Chris Young spearheaded the effort, citing the need for a spark to reignite the team’s championship form.
“We can’t afford to wait and hope for improvement,” Young emphasized. “It’s time for us to take action and perform like the team we know we can be.”
The Rangers promoted outfielder Derek Hill from Triple-A Round Rock, hoping his previous major league experience will translate to success.
Infielder Ezequiel Duran was optioned to Round Rock to refine his skills, while Justin Foscue was activated from the injured list and sent to Round Rock to rebuild his strength.
The team also made changes to its pitching staff, transferring right-hander Cole Winn to the 60-day injured list due to a shoulder sprain and designating Yerry Rodríguez for assignment. Manager Bruce Bochy endorsed the moves, stating, “Sometimes you need to shake things up to find that spark.”
The Rangers’ offensive struggles have been a major concern, with the team sitting six games below .500 and trailing the Seattle Mariners by 7½ games in the AL West.
