Giulia made her WWE NXT debut this past Tuesday, defeating former WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion Chelsea Green. While discussing her performance on “Busted Open Radio,” WWE Hall of Famer Bully Ray expressed that WWE still has work to do with the former STARDOM star.
Reflecting on the match, Bully Ray admitted, “I know what I saw, and I know what I heard. It was a solid introduction for Giulia, but it didn’t leave me thinking, ‘Wow, she’s the future of WWE.’” Though he felt it was a positive start, he stopped short of labeling it “great” or “excellent” as his co-hosts did, even though he appreciated the former NJPW STRONG Women’s Champion’s presentation. However, Bully remains uncertain about the current hype surrounding her.
Bully elaborated, “I wasn’t expecting more given her background. You can’t expect someone who’s spent years in Japanese promotions to instantly master WWE’s style.” He felt Giulia adapted well, crediting Chelsea Green for helping her through the match, but noted a desire for more emotional depth from Giulia’s performance.
He also commended the “NXT” broadcast team for introducing Giulia to the audience and explaining her background but felt there was nothing in her debut that showcased her potential. While recognizing the debut as a positive step, Bully suggested that the hype around Giulia hasn’t fully translated into substance just yet.
“There’s nothing wrong with buying into the hype,” Bully added. “That’s part of WWE’s magic—using smoke and mirrors to create intrigue, which is what wrestling is all about.”
