Tom Guiry, best known for his role as Scotty Smalls in the classic film The Sandlot, is in legal trouble again. On June 2, the actor was arrested in South Carolina on multiple charges, according to the Horry County Sheriff’s Office records. A mugshot from the Horry County Sheriff’s Office shows Guiry from his June 2024 arrest.

In a video obtained by TMZ, Guiry is seen throwing a dumbbell at the windshield of a white Jeep, cracking the glass on the passenger side. Another clip shows him crossing the street and allegedly brandishing a knife while ringing a doorbell.

Guiry was charged with assault and malicious injury to personal property. He was booked in the afternoon and released the following night. Entertainment Weekly has reached out to both the Horry County Sheriff’s Department and Guiry’s representative for comments.

This isn’t Guiry’s first run-in with the law. In 2013, he was arrested in Houston for allegedly head-butting a police officer after being deemed too drunk to board a flight at Bush Intercontinental Airport.

Guiry’s breakout role as Scotty Smalls in The Sandlot in 1993 remains his most memorable. The film, which starred Mike Vitar, Patrick Renna, Chauncey Leopardi, and Marty York, along with Denis Leary, Karen Allen, and James Earl Jones, has become a beloved classic despite its modest box office performance. The movie inspired two direct-to-video sequels and a planned legacy sequel series.

Beyond The Sandlot, Guiry has appeared in films like Black Hawk Down, Mystic River, The Revenant, and Ang Lee’s Ride with the Devil in small roles.

He was also a regular on NBC’s short-lived 2007 drama The Black Donnellys and has made guest appearances on shows like Law & Order, CSI: Miami, and Elementary. His latest role was in the 2022 crime comedy Killin Smallz, where he played himself.
