Nissan has issued a “do not drive” warning for approximately 84,000 older-model vehicles equipped with recalled Takata-made airbags.

The warning applies to specific model years 2002-2006 Nissan Sentra, 2002-2004 Nissan Pathfinder, and 2002-2003 Infiniti QX4 vehicles.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) advised drivers not to operate these vehicles until the defective airbag is replaced.

The Takata airbag recall, initiated in 2013, remains one of the largest and deadliest in automotive history.

The NHTSA has confirmed 27 deaths in the U.S. caused by the defective airbags, with at least 400 injuries reported. Takata filed for bankruptcy protection in 2017.

Owners of affected vehicles are urged to contact Nissan or an authorized dealer immediately to schedule a repair. Prompt action is crucial to mitigate the risk of injury or death posed by the potentially explosive Takata airbags.
