Malaysian racer Hakim Danish clinched his first victory in the 2024 Red Bull Rookies Cup during Race 2 at Motorland Aragon, Spain. Despite the challenging conditions with heavy rain, the 17-year-old from Terengganu expertly managed his pace to secure a dominant lead.
Reflecting on his performance post-race, Hakim expressed his optimism going into the event. “I felt confident when I woke up, preparing myself for the wet conditions. I took two sighting laps and felt assured about the bike’s grip and handling. On the starting grid, I told my mechanic, ‘Maybe this is my time,’” Hakim shared.
His consistent performance in the Rookie’s Cup has been impressive, following a strong second-place finish in Jerez, Spain, earlier this year. Racing with number ‘13,’ Hakim focused intently throughout, aiming to maximize his lead. “I think I did a great job, maintaining concentration and striving for the largest gap possible,” he noted.
With the season nearing its end, Hakim is currently in sixth place in the championship standings, with Spain’s Alvaro Carpe leading the field. The final round of the Red Bull Rookies Cup is scheduled for September 7 and 8 in Misano, Italy, where Hakim will look to further his success.
