I’ll admit, I was skeptical about the idea of an electric vehicle (EV) providing an engaging driving experience. But Hyundai has proven me wrong with the 2024 Ioniq 5 N.
This car has left me impressed and eager to spend more time behind the wheel. With its impressive 641 horsepower and advanced features like adaptive dampers and track-ready cooling, the Ioniq 5 N is a force to be reckoned with. But what truly sets it apart is its sense of whimsy and playfulness.
On the road, the Ioniq 5 N is a revelation. Its acceleration is mind-bending, and its handling is superb. The adaptive dampers provide a comfortable ride in Normal mode and a more aggressive stance in N mode.
The steering is precise and communicative, making it easy to push the car to its limits. But what’s truly impressive is the car’s ability to make driving feel fun and carefree.
However, there are some drawbacks to consider. The car’s range is somewhat limited, and I was only able to manage around 180 miles on a single charge.
Additionally, the charging network can be unreliable, making it difficult to find a good charger. But these issues are largely mitigated by the car’s upcoming NACS update, which will improve its charging capabilities.
Despite these limitations, the Ioniq 5 N is a true enthusiast’s car. It’s a vehicle that begs to be driven for the sake of driving, and its engaging nature makes it hard to resist.
While it may not be perfect, the Ioniq 5 N is a game-changer in the field of electric vehicles, and I can’t wait to see what Hyundai has in store for us next.
