Netflix’s ‘Revelations’: A Thrilling Collaboration between Yeon Sang-ho and Alfonso Cuarón

Netflix Thriller by Yeon Sang-ho to Be Executive Produced by Alfonso Cuaron (Netflix)

Yeon Sang-ho, the Korean director behind the hit zombie film “Train to Busan,” is teaming up with Oscar-winning filmmaker Alfonso Cuarón for a new Netflix movie, “Revelations.” Yeon will direct and co-write the script, based on his own popular webtoon of the same name. Cuarón will executive produce and consult on the project.

Yeon has a history with Netflix, having directed three projects for the streaming service, including the sci-fi film “Jung_E” and the hit series “Hellbound” and “Parasyte: The Grey.” Cuarón, meanwhile, is known for his critically acclaimed films “Children of Men” and “Gravity.” His next project, “Disclaimer,” is a psychological thriller series starring Cate Blanchett and Kevin Kline, set to premiere on Apple TV+.

“Revelations” follows a pastor and a detective as they investigate a missing persons case. The film stars Ryu Jun-yeol as the pastor and Shin Hyun-been as the detective. The story explores themes of faith, reality, and revenge.

Wow Point, a global production company, is producing the film. The company has a slate of Korean content in the works, including the Netflix series “The Bequeathed” and “Parasyte: The Grey.”

Netflix is investing heavily in Korean content, with a number of projects set to premiere in the second half of 2024 and beyond. These include the highly anticipated second season of “Squid Game,” as well as “Officer Black Belt,” “Uprising,” “The Great Flood,” and “Lost in Starlight,” the streaming service’s first Korean-language animated film.
