Marvel’s Blade to Find New Director as Yann Demange Leaves

Marvel's 'Blade' loses director Yann Demange (Marvel)

After a tough few years, the MCU is seeing some positive changes. Deadpool & Wolverine is coming soon, and its director, Shawn Levy, might direct Avengers 5.

The studio has new plans for Disney+ releases, and The Fantastic Four is progressing well. However, one project, Blade, is still facing problems. The film lost its first director, Bassam Tariq, in 2022, and now his replacement, Yann Demange, has also left.

Reports say Demange, the director of ’71, left Blade some time ago on good terms. With the movie’s November 2025 release looking unlikely, Marvel is searching for a new director.

Meanwhile, Eric Pearson, known for his work on Fantastic Four, has been hired to rewrite the script. He’s the latest in a series of writers who have tried to move the Blade project forward, including Stacy Osei-Kuffour, Beau DeMayo, Michael Starrbury, Nic Pizzolatto, and Michael Green.

Despite these setbacks, there’s still hope for Blade. Mahershala Ali, announced as the lead in 2019, is still set to play the vampire hunter. Ali is also in talks to star in the next Jurassic World movie. Insiders say Kevin Feige and his team are more focused on making the film right than rushing its release.

They are also adopting a new strategy of releasing two films per year to manage production better. So, there’s a chance Blade might finally be completed without any more issues.
