On Tuesday, the ATP Tour announced that no disciplinary action will be taken against Alexander Zverev after a thorough investigation found insufficient evidence to support allegations of abuse made by his former girlfriend, Olya Sharypova.

The investigation, which began in October 2021, was conducted by The Lake Forest Group (LFG) with legal oversight from Smith Hulsey & Busey. According to an ATP statement, the inquiry involved a detailed 15-month review of the evidence, witness statements, and conflicting accounts from Sharypova, Zverev, and other sources.

The ATP concluded that the evidence did not substantiate the abuse claims or identify any violations of ATP’s rules. Consequently, no action will be taken against Zverev unless new evidence emerges or legal proceedings uncover rule violations. Zverev has consistently denied the allegations and cooperated fully with the investigation.

ATP CEO Massimo Calvelli remarked that the process was extensive and resource-intensive, highlighting the need for improved responsiveness on safeguarding issues. He acknowledged the importance of the investigative effort and its implications for future handling of such matters.

In response, Zverev expressed relief, asserting his innocence and gratitude for the investigation. He emphasized his focus on recovering from injury and returning to tennis while thanking supporters for their patience. Sharypova has yet to comment on the ATP’s decision.
