Bruce Prichard, a seasoned Executive Director in WWE, has had the privilege of witnessing some of the most electric crowds in wrestling history. On his podcast, “Something To Wrestle,” Prichard reflected on the two most incredible crowd reactions he’s experienced during his tenure with the company.
He fondly recalled the deafening atmosphere at WrestleMania X-Seven in 2001, held in Houston, Texas. The crowd’s energy was palpable throughout the night, but it was the moment Linda McMahon surprisingly stood up from her wheelchair during the Vince McMahon vs. Shane McMahon match that left a lasting impression on Prichard. “The pop was deafening… they were into everything we did,” he exclaimed.
Prichard also highlighted the subsequent WrestleMania event in Toronto, Canada, which featured the iconic Hulk Hogan vs. The Rock match. The crowd’s fervent support for Hogan was evident, with chants of “Hulkamania” echoing throughout the arena.
“The crowd wanted Hulk Hogan, they wanted their guy, they wanted the red and yellow, they didn’t want this Hollywood BS,” Prichard reminisced.
