Fangoria Magazine and Fangoria Studios have revealed the lineup for the 2024 Chainsaw Awards, which will debut on Shudder on October 13. The full broadcast will also be accessible for on-demand streaming on Shudder starting the next day.

This year’s Chainsaw Awards will spotlight achievements in horror across films, TV shows, and, for the first time, video games. The ceremony will be hosted by David Dastmalchian, star of “Late Night With the Devil,” alongside Angel Melanson, the editor of Fangoria Magazine.

Among the presenters are industries like Fede Álvarez (director of “Alien: Romulus”), Skeet Ulrich (“Scream”), Madeleine McGraw (“The Black Phone”), Dewayne Perkins (“The Blackening”), Lauren LaVera (“Terrifier 3”), Akela Cooper (“Malignant”), Peaches Christ (“Midnight Mass”), Dane DiLiegro (“Prey”), Alec Gillis, Tiffany Shepis (“Victor Crowley”), and Lachlan Watson (“Chucky”).

This year’s nominees include films such as “Evil Dead Rise,” “M3GAN,” “Infinity Pool,” “The First Omen,” and “I Saw the TV Glow,” as well as TV series like “Yellowjackets” and “Chucky.” These selections come from an extended eligibility period, allowing the awards to reflect a broader range of horror content. Phil Nobile Jr., Fangoria’s editor-in-chief, noted that this approach was adopted to ensure the awards showcase the best from both the previous and current year.

Nobile Jr. remarked, “We had to adapt our awards to encompass not just the previous year but also the first part of this year, leading to a more competitive field over 18 months of content. This extended eligibility makes the Chainsaw Awards authentically brutal, which aligns perfectly with our theme.”

Michael Varrati, who wrote and directed the 2024 Chainsaw Awards, shared, “We aim to break away from traditional award show norms. Our goal is to celebrate the horror genre while creating a TV special that resonates with both creators and fans of the genre.” The event is produced by Tara Ansley and Abhi Goel for Fangoria Studios, with Armen Aghaeian, Rebekah McKendry, and Phil Nobile Jr. also serving as producers.
