The BMW 520i M Sport, recently introduced to the local G60 5 Series lineup, is priced at RM349,800 on-the-road, excluding insurance. This marks an increase of RM17,000 over the standard non-M Sport version, which debuted earlier in May.
This price does not include the BMW Service & Repair Inclusive package, which covers a five-year warranty and service. With this package, an additional RM26,900 brings the total to RM376,700. The key distinctions between the 520i M Sport and the standard model are primarily visual.
The M Sport features a more dynamic appearance, including M High-gloss Shadowline accents and 19-inch double-spoke style 935 M bicolour alloy wheels. However, the non-M Sport variant has a more subdued look with satin aluminium accents and 19-inch aerodynamic style 934 bicolour grey wheels. Both versions come equipped with the Iconic Glow kidney grille.
Inside, both variants share perforated and quilted Veganza leather upholstery, front sports seats, and an anthracite headliner. However, the M Sport variant boasts aluminium rhombicle trim, dark silver M accents, and an M leather steering wheel, while the non-M Sport model features fine-wood grey blue ash trim with dark silver accents. The M Sport also benefits from an augmented reality view for the head-up display, which is not available on the standard version.
In terms of equipment, both models are similarly equipped with passive suspension, adaptive LED headlamps with high beam assist, four-zone climate control, Comfort Access with a powered tailgate, powered front seats with driver’s memory function, ambient lighting, rolled sunshades, a wireless charging pad, BMW Live Cockpit Professional (12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and 14.9-inch touchscreen), and a 12-speaker Harman Kardon sound system.
Driver assistance features bundled in the Driving Assistant Plus package include Active Cruise Control with stop-and-go functionality, Steering and Lane Control Assistant, Lane Departure Warning, and Parking Assistant Plus.
Mechanically, the 520i M Sport is identical to the standard 520i, both powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-four engine with a 48V mild hybrid system, producing 208 PS (205 hp or 153 kW) and 330 Nm of torque. The power is transmitted to the rear wheels via an eight-speed automatic transmission, delivering identical performance with a 0-100 km/h time of 7.5 seconds and a top speed of 230 km/h.
