Following the June debut of the revamped Bentley Continental GT, Bentley is gearing up to unveil the fourth-generation Flying Spur on September 10. This new sedan will feature the brand’s cutting-edge ‘Ultra Performance Hybrid’ powertrain, aiming to set new benchmarks as the “most powerful, most dynamic, and most efficient four-door vehicle” in Bentley’s storied 105-year history.
The upcoming Flying Spur is expected to offer an electric-only driving range of approximately 72 kilometers (45 miles) and a combined range exceeding 805 kilometers (500 miles). It will produce less than 40 grams of CO2 per kilometer, and its powertrain is designed to deliver a formidable 782 PS (771 horsepower or 575 kW) and 1000 Nm of torque.
These performance specifications align closely with those of the latest Continental GT, suggesting that the Flying Spur will utilize the same plug-in hybrid system. This includes a 4.0-liter turbocharged V8 engine, an electric motor, a 25.9-kWh battery, and an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission.
While the Continental GT accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.2 seconds and achieves a top speed of 335 km/h, the Flying Spur, with its additional doors and larger frame, is anticipated to have marginally lower performance metrics compared to its two-door counterpart.
