On Thursday’s episode of “The View,” Whoopi Goldberg and her fellow hosts voiced their disapproval of “Dancing With the Stars” casting Anna Delvey for its 33rd season. Delvey, a notorious con artist who deceived New York’s elite social and art circles from 2013 to 2017 by pretending to be a wealthy heiress, has sparked controversy.

Originally from the Soviet Union, she and her family moved to Germany when she was 16, eventually making her way to the U.S. where her fraudulent activities led to a Netflix series, “Inventing Anna.” Recently, Delvey was placed under house arrest by immigration officials for breaching her visa conditions. Despite this, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement allowed her to participate in the show.

Goldberg expressed her frustration on “The View,” reflecting on the disparity in treatment between Delvey and other individuals who have faced difficulties with immigration enforcement.

She questioned, “I think about all the families who have fought to bring back their loved ones from ICE custody. Why was this woman granted permission to appear on a TV show?” Goldberg’s comments raised concerns about a potential double standard within the immigration system.
