Saturday’s Yankees Game Marred by Juan Soto’s Big Blunder

Juan Soto (New York Yankees)

The game on Saturday night between the New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox was eventful, featuring a mix of baserunning mistakes, fielding errors, and clutch hits. Despite these, the Yankees secured an 11-8 victory in the 10th inning to level the series.

A non forgettable moment was Juan Soto’s costly mistake in the top of the 8th inning, which could have led to a loss had his team not rallied in the 9th inning to tie the game.

With one out and runners on first and second, Aaron Judge hit a double into the left-center field gap. Alex Verdugo scored from second, but Soto, attempting to score from first, ignored the third base coach’s stop sign and was easily thrown out at home by shortstop Ceddanne Rafaela’s relay from Jarren Duran in center field.

This play preserved the Red Sox’s 8-7 lead, which was later surrendered when Trent Grisham hit a crucial two-out RBI double off Kenley Jansen in the 9th inning, allowing Soto’s teammates to compensate for his error.

Earlier, in the second inning, Rafaela made a similar mistake when he was thrown out at third base while off the bag and talking to the third base coach. It was not a favorable game for third-base coaches.
