Richard Linklater is gearing up for his next project, “Blue Moon”, following the success of his recent Netflix film “Hit Man”. The filmmaker has secured funding for the movie, which explores the ups and downs of the songwriting partnership between Richard Rodgers and Lorenz Hart.
Written by Robert Kaplow, “Blue Moon” delves into the final days of Hart’s life, set against the backdrop of the opening night of “Oklahoma!” in 1943.
The film boasts an impressive cast, including Ethan Hawke, Margaret Qualley, Bobby Cannavale, and Andrew Scott. This marks Linklater’s ninth collaboration with Hawke, a testament to their fruitful creative partnership.
Principal photography is set to take place in Dublin, Ireland, this summer, with Sony Pictures Classics financing the project and Sony distributing it worldwide. Linklater is producing alongside Mike Blizzard and John Sloss.
