The Latest BMW X3 Has Hit the Market, and It’s Looking Fierce

2022 BMW X3 (BMW)

The latest BMW X3 has a distinctively cantankerous air about it, though the Bavarian marque hasn’t disclosed the reason behind its ire. The fourth-generation model boasts a more aggressive design, led by a larger kidney grille that exudes a more aggressive presence. The X3 has grown marginally in length and width, but its lower stance and wider tracks make it appear more squat.

The new X3 comes in four variants in the UK: the 20 xDrive, 20d xDrive, 30e xDrive, and M50 xDrive. The base model packs a 205bhp 2.0-liter engine, while the diesel variant gets a 194bhp 2.0-liter unit.

The hybrid 30e xDrive gets a 295bhp powertrain and an electric range of 50-56 miles. The top-of-the-line M50 xDrive boasts a 393bhp straight-six turbo engine with mild-hybrid tech and an M-specific suspension tune.

All variants come with four-wheel drive and an eight-speed automatic transmission. BMW claims improved cornering stability and ride comfort across all variants, along with more standard equipment and a revamped interior featuring a massive “Curved Display” screen and adjustable luxury seats. The cabin also gets smartphone integration, optional in-car games, and BMW’s Operating System 9.

The X3’s increased aggression has corresponded to an increase in agility, making it a more formidable presence on the road. Prices in the UK start at £46,800 for the base model and go up to £64,990 for the M50 xDrive. With its refreshed design, improved performance, and enhanced features, the new BMW X3 is a force to be reckoned with in the compact SUV market.
