In the Volvo EX90, we’re taking the premium car experience to new heights by illuminating the interior with a comprehensive array of 72 SunLike LEDs, offering near-sunlight quality light.
Volvo Cars’ designers aimed to enhance the connection to nature both day and night. These SunLike LEDs, sourced from Seoul Semiconductor, complement the panoramic roof and open cabin design.
This new lighting solution surpasses the capabilities of traditional automotive LEDs, providing a more natural color representation with low light reflection and a high color index, showcasing colors as they appear in nature.
“By harnessing the full light spectrum from the SunLike LEDs, the advanced materials and interior design of the Volvo EX90 are highlighted more vividly and accurately,” explains Dan Fidgett, Head of Colour & Materials. “Paired with our wood decor and other natural cabin materials, these lights are a core element of our Scandinavian design philosophy.”
While SunLike lights are commonly used to simulate natural light in homes, hospitals, schools, museums, and horticulture, Volvo Car Group is pioneering their use in production vehicles, starting with the Polestar 3 and the Volvo EX90.
All non-decorative interior lights in the Volvo EX90, whether on the ceiling, floor, door pockets, or trunk, are equipped with SunLike LEDs as standard.
Beyond enhancing the aesthetic appeal of the interior, these lights provide natural comfort to all passengers. Reducing blue light and the absence of flickering can help alleviate eyestrain and headaches typically associated with such exposure.
