McIlroy’s victory was characterized by a strong finish, as Reed faltered during the final holes. Despite Reed’s impressive charge with five birdies and an eagle, McIlroy’s decisive performance, including a crucial birdie on the penultimate hole, secured his win.
McIlroy admitted the week’s controversies made the victory particularly sweet, as he navigated a mentally challenging final round, focusing solely on his performance despite the surrounding drama.
