Twins Tia Mowry and Tamera Mowry-Housley have navigated their acting careers together from the start. The sisters first gained fame as separated-at-birth twins on Sister, Sister, which aired from 1994 to 1999.

Since then, Tia and Tamera have appeared together in several other projects, including Disney Channel’s Seventeen Again (where they starred alongside their brother, Tahj Mowry), the Twitches franchise, Lifetime’s Double Wedding, and their reality show on Style Network.

One of their most iconic moments together happened during Twitches, where they chanted “go twitches, go twitches” in sync. “Tia and I came up with that. It was totally improvised,” Tamera shared during a November 2022 appearance.

“We were so happy and surprised that it stuck. My sister and I looked at each other, did the [hand signal] and chanted, ‘go twitches, go twitches.’ We even added, ‘It’s your birthday.’ It was all spontaneous.”

The twins also played significant roles in each other’s personal lives, serving as maids of honor at each other’s weddings—Tia married Cory Hardrict, and Tamera wed Adam Housley. However, their once-close bond has faced challenges, especially after Tia and Hardrict divorced in 2022.

In a September 2024 trailer for her My Next Act docuseries, Tia opened up about her relationship with Tamera, admitting, “I wish my sister and I were still close and I could just pick up the phone to call her, but that’s not where we are right now.”

(A source later clarified that Tia was referencing the physical distance between them, not a personal rift.)

Tia and Tamera have always been proud aunts to each other’s children. Tia shares son Cree and daughter Cairo with Hardrict, while Tamera and Housley are parents to son Aden and daughter Ariah.

“Seeing my sister as a mom is so inspiring,” Tamera exclusively told in 2011. “She juggles being a mom, actress, and businesswoman beautifully.”

When Tamera gave birth to her first child, Aden, in 2012, Tia was equally thrilled. “I am overjoyed to be an auntie!” Tia shared. “I understand now the overflowing love my sister has for [my son] Cree. I’ve kissed her new bundle of joy at least 100 times already!”

Reflecting on their shared journey, Tamera took to Instagram in September 2020 to celebrate their time on Sister, Sister. “It all started here with my sissy!

What a blessing to inspire so many at a young age. Representation matters,” she wrote. “I’m beyond grateful for the love we’ve received and for the new generation discovering the show on Netflix.”

Tamera has been a supportive sister throughout Tia’s divorce from Hardrict. After Tia filed for divorce in October 2022 (finalized in April 2023), Tamera voiced her unwavering support.

“I support her in whatever she wants. The Mowrys have her back,” Tamera said. “She’s strong, but she’s taking time to process everything privately, and I respect that.”

A couple of months later, Tamera praised Tia for handling the situation with grace.

“You have your ups and downs, but she’s allowing this experience to change her for the better,” Tamera told. “Things don’t always go as planned, but you learn, grow, and move forward with love. That’s exactly what she’s doing.”

In July 2024, Tia shared a heartfelt birthday message for her twin sister on Instagram. “I want to take a moment to cherish my sister and wish her an early happy birthday,” Tia wrote.

“It’s been an incredible blessing to have you by my side through all of life’s milestones. From our early days together, going through teenage years, to motherhood—I’m so grateful to have shared this journey with you. We’re turning 46! How did we get here?”

In the My Next Act trailer, Tia also opened up about life as a single mother following her divorce.

“I always wanted a family dynamic where both parents were in the household. Now, when I drop my kids off, I see how that’s no longer the case,” she said. “Being alone has been the most challenging part of this.”

She expressed her desire to reconnect with her sister, though she acknowledged their current distance. “I wish my sister and I were still close,” she said. While Tia hasn’t shared the reason for the apparent estrangement, Tamera has not publicly commented on the matter.

A source later clarified that Tia was referring to the physical distance between them due to where they live, rather than a breakdown in their relationship.
