The pro wrestling world is in mourning as it loses another legendary figure. Jerry Jarrett has passed away at the age of 80, according to TMZ. Jarrett, who was a prominent promoter and the father of AEW star Jeff Jarrett, began his career in the 1960s and 1970s.

He initially worked as a referee and wrestler, earning several regional National Wrestling Alliance (NWA) titles. In 1977, he left the NWA to create the Continental Wrestling Association (CWA) in Memphis, where he achieved remarkable success alongside Jerry Lawler.

Throughout his career, Jarrett also contributed to World Championship Wrestling (WCW) and the World Wrestling Federation (WWF), playing an important role in the careers of stars like Hulk Hogan and “Stone Cold” Steve Austin. He was inducted into the NWA Hall of Fame in 2009.

Following his passing, All Elite Wrestling (AEW) expressed their sorrow on Twitter, highlighting Jarrett’s profound impact on wrestling as a wrestler, promoter, and visionary.

IMPACT Wrestling also paid tribute, noting Jarrett’s crucial role in the establishment of TNA/IMPACT and extending condolences to his family. WWE joined in the mourning, expressing their sadness over Jarrett’s death and offering condolences to his family, friends, and fans.
