Behind the Scenes: Latest on Rhea Ripley’s Injury Angle from WWE NXT

On Tuesday, Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez ambushed former WWE Women’s World Champion Rhea Ripley, leaving her bloodied next to her car following an unseen attack. Ripley had just visited the “NXT” locker room to encourage the women’s roster, and this incident seems designed to write her off television as she recovers from a legitimate injury.

Recently, Dave Meltzer shared details about Ripley’s condition on “Wrestling Observer Radio,” stating, “[Rhea has] got a fractured orbital bone.” He confirmed that the injury is legitimate and occurred last week, leading to her absence from house shows and likely marking her final appearance on television for some time.

Meltzer speculated that the injury may have resulted from her confrontation with Rodriguez during the October 21 episode of “Raw.” While there is no set timeline for her return, he expressed doubt about a quick recovery, saying, “She is going to be out for a while. It happened last week, and then they did [the NXT attack] as a cover.”

This marks Ripley’s second injury this year, as she had to vacate the WWE Women’s World Championship earlier due to a shoulder injury. Her ongoing feud with Morgan not only stems from Morgan’s developing relationship with Rhea’s former partner, “Dirty” Dominik Mysterio, but also from Ripley’s desire to reclaim the title she never lost. Unfortunately, it seems that fans will have to wait some time before she can resume her impressive 380-day title run.
