A remarkable milestone has been reached by Hyundai Motor Company as it celebrates the production of its 100 millionth vehicle worldwide, highlighted by the opening of the ‘One Step Further’ exhibition at Hyundai Motorstudio Seoul.
This showcase not only illustrates the factors contributing to this impressive production achievement but also expresses Hyundai’s appreciation to customers who have been integral to its journey.
The exhibition builds upon the celebration of 100 million vehicles that took place at Hyundai Motor’s Ulsan Plant on September 30, where the company presented the very first IONIQ 5 to its new owner, symbolizing gratitude towards customers for their steadfast support.
“Constructing a car requires thousands of components and the collaborative efforts of millions in research and development, design, and manufacturing over many years,” stated Sungwon Jee, Senior Vice President and Global Chief Marketing Officer at Hyundai Motor Company.
“We aimed to highlight these behind-the-scenes contributions that culminated in the production of 100 million vehicles and narrate the story of Hyundai’s evolution from a conventional automaker to a prominent smart mobility solutions provider.”
Spanning five floors, the exhibition begins on the first floor with a presentation of the journey to 100 million units, featuring iconic models such as the Cortina Mark 2, Hyundai’s inaugural production vehicle, and the Pony, which was the first model developed independently by the company.
On the second floor, visitors can explore how Hyundai has positively impacted its customers’ lives, along with a historical overview of key Hyundai Motor plants and the progression of production processes over the years.
The third floor focuses on pivotal factors that contributed to achieving the 100 million vehicle production milestone, spotlighting three models: the first-generation SONATA, the first-generation ELANTRA, and the Scoupe. These vehicles embody Hyundai’s unwavering commitment to going ‘one step further’ in reaching this remarkable goal.
The first-generation SONATA illustrated Hyundai’s commitment to craftsmanship and product quality enhancement. The first-generation ELANTRA, a consistent performer, established the foundation for the company’s capacity to produce 100 million vehicles by introducing an automated production line.
Meanwhile, the Scoupe, featuring the Alpha series—Hyundai’s first in-house engine—pioneered the sports car segment in Korea and showcased the company’s engineering excellence.
The exhibition’s fourth and fifth floors present the brand’s contemporary SUV lineup, including the SANTA FE, KONA, and INSTER, as well as its electric vehicle (EV) range, which features the IONIQ 5, IONIQ 5 N, and IONIQ 6.
This final section provides a look into Hyundai Motor’s future as it advances ‘one step further’ in its transformation from a traditional automaker into an innovative mobility solutions provider.
This exhibition serves as a testament to Hyundai Motor’s relentless dedication to innovation, customer satisfaction, and a future characterized by ongoing growth and success. Admission is complimentary for all visitors from October 10 to November 10.
