Being part of a renowned wrestling lineage, Dominik Mysterio comes from a family where many members wear masks, mostly his father, Rey Mysterio. However, the younger Mysterio has expressed a clear preference against donning a mask in WWE.
In a recent interview with “Foundation Radio,” he stated that he has no desire to hide his “pretty face” behind a mask. When asked about the possibility of wearing one as part of the Judgment Day faction, he replied, “No. There’s no need to cover this pretty face.”
Mysterio further elaborated that he feels no obligation to prove himself as the superior Mysterio, asserting that he doesn’t need to conceal his identity. “I don’t need to hide who I am. I can go out there and say, ‘Hey, this is me, I’m pretty, you’re ugly. I have the best mustache, I have the best hair, you’re ugly, and that’s just how it is. It’s life,” he explained.
His stance on masks has evolved since a few years ago when he viewed them as a vital part of the Mysterio family legacy. At that time, Rey Mysterio also suggested plans to incorporate a mask into Dominik’s character.
Back then, Dominik was still new to the wrestling scene and hadn’t yet developed into the despised heel he is today. Introducing a mask now, while portraying a villain, could undermine its traditional importance in WWE, especially considering his father’s status as one of the most beloved masked wrestlers in the industry.
