Damon Kemp Shares Insights from His Memorable Ambulance Match with Julius Creed

Damon Kemp and Julius Creed (NXT)

Although his time in WWE’s “NXT” brand may not have concluded as he had hoped, Damon Kemp’s journey within the promotion remains memorable.

The former amateur wrestler participated in both the Diamond Mine stable and later the No Quarter Catch Crew after his shocking betrayal of Diamond Mine, which led to a climactic showdown with Julius Creed in an Ambulance Match at Halloween Havoc 2022.

In a conversation with “The Wrestling Classic,” Kemp reflected on the Ambulance Match and shared that, akin to Dante in “Clerks,” he unexpectedly found himself involved in the bout.

Kemp admitted to feeling immense anxiety ahead of his heel turn and delivering a pivotal chair shot, fearing a mistake could cost him his WWE career (NXT)

“I was thrown in the deep end,” Kemp explained. “That match wasn’t originally meant for me. It was supposed to feature Julius against Roderick. If you watch the match, you’ll see that everything seems to fall on Roddy.

We were gradually piecing it all together, but I think he had an injury or some other issue that I’m not completely informed about, so I won’t delve into that.” Kemp admitted to feeling immense pressure when it came time to execute his turn against Diamond Mine at Worlds Collide, which made him anxious about delivering the moment flawlessly.

“They said, ‘You’re going to make the turn,'” Kemp recalled. “While we had done a few main events before, this was my first memorable moment, particularly when I had to deliver the chair shot.

By that point, I was eight months into my career, and I thought, ‘This is a major moment. If I mess up this chair shot, I’m done. This is a huge deal. If I miss it, I might not be around here tomorrow.'”
