The 2025 Polestar 2 has undergone serious changes, particularly for those seeking a standard model. Polestar has completely phased out the single-motor variants for this year, having already switched from front-wheel to rear-wheel drive in 2024.

As a result, both the Long Range RWD and Long Range AWD trims are no longer available, leaving only the Performance Pack version in the lineup.

The Polestar 2 Performance Pack has seen multiple updates since its debut. Initially launched with a dual-motor configuration and a front-wheel bias, it produced 469 horsepower and 502 pound-feet of torque.

For 2024, the performance-focused trim was reworked with new motors that offer faster charging and a rear-wheel bias, reducing horsepower to 449 but boosting torque to 546 pound-feet. The 2025 version keeps the higher torque figure but returns to the original 469-horsepower rating.

As part of its 2025 update, the Polestar 2 now comes standard with several premium packages—Climate, Performance, Plus, and Pilot—that were previously optional. These mandatory features have caused the starting price to rise by more than $15,000, now beginning at $66,200.

In addition to these changes, Polestar has aligned itself with Tesla’s Supercharger network. The company announced that future Polestar vehicles will come equipped with the NACS charging port, while current owners can purchase an adapter for their existing models.
