Rob Van Dam recently sparked speculation about a potential WWE return after his appearance on “WWE NXT.” The WWE Hall of Famer was part of a special “NXT” event held at the 2300 Arena in Philadelphia, a venue with deep roots in ECW history.
During the show, a fan reached out on X, expressing their disappointment over not seeing RVD wrestle. Van Dam responded by revealing that he too hoped to compete but assured the fan that he would be back in WWE for a match in the future.
He also shared his thoughts on the respect shown by Paul “Triple H” Levesque to WWE legends, agreeing with a fan who praised the treatment. In his “NXT” segment, Van Dam was seen backstage having a conversation with Kelani Jordan, which was interrupted by an attack from Wes Lee. RVD later made his way to ringside during Lee’s match with Je’Von Evans, distracting Lee and helping Evans secure the victory.
Although RVD is nearing his 54th birthday in December, he still makes occasional appearances in the ring. His last match took place in April during “AEW Rampage,” and he has competed in AEW and independent promotions in the past year.
However, his time in WWE has been on hold since 2014, when he last wrestled against Seth Rollins. Still, his recent WWE TV appearances have kept the possibility of a future match alive, something he expressed interest in earlier this year. The “NXT” episode also featured appearances from other ECW veterans, including The Dudley Boyz, Nunzio, Tony Mamaluke, Francine, and Dawn Marie.
