On October 18th, the Drug Department from Gandhinagar conducted a five-hour raid at Navjivan Upchar Kendra, owned by Nazira S. Moldharia (Mayat), in Kangvai, Navsari, Gujarat. Arriving at 12 PM and leaving at 5 PM, authorities seized large quantities of herbal medicines, glimepiride, and a significant amount of paracetamol. These substances are now being tested for possible illegal content.
Nazira has been previously arrested by the Pune police in a separate incident, further intensifying concerns surrounding her medical practices. The center had been under scrutiny for some time due to suspicions about unregulated medicine distribution. Health officials are now investigating the center’s legitimacy, aiming to combat illegal medicinal practices in the region.
The raid marks a significant step in the state’s ongoing efforts to regulate and monitor questionable medical operations, with a focus on protecting public health. The confiscated medicines are undergoing analysis, and further action will be taken based on the results of these tests.
Local residents have raised questions about the authenticity of the center’s herbal medicines for a while, and this raid may reveal deeper issues in similar operations across the region. Authorities remain vigilant and are likely to conduct more investigations into similar centers.
