Cavaliers Offer Strong Backing to Guardians Ahead of Game 5

The Guardians are prepared for game 5 (Cleveland Guardians)

The Cleveland Guardians are preparing for a high-stakes ALDS Game 5 against the Detroit Tigers, with a trip to the ALCS within their grasp. With everything on the line, the Guardians are getting a boost of encouragement from the Cleveland Cavaliers, who stopped by Progressive Field to offer their support.

Bally Sports Cleveland shared a photo featuring Cavs stars Donovan Mitchell, Darius Garland, and Tristan Thompson wearing Guardians jerseys and holding team towels, rallying behind the baseball squad.

The Guardians are aiming to reach the ALCS for the first time since 2016, when they defeated the Toronto Blue Jays to make it to the World Series, where they fell in seven games to the Chicago Cubs.

Cleveland’s fans are eager to end the franchise’s World Series drought, as the team hasn’t claimed the title since 1948—currently the longest dry spell in Major League Baseball.

That 2016 season was a memorable one for the city, with the Cavaliers capturing their first NBA championship, nearly making it a historic double with the Guardians coming so close to a World Series win.

As the Cavs gear up to begin their 2024-25 season on Oct. 23 against the Toronto Raptors, the Guardians are hoping their postseason run will still be alive by that time.

Though a challenging series against the New York Yankees potentially awaits in the ALCS, the Guardians have a real shot at achieving something remarkable, and it’s inspiring to see Cleveland fans rally behind them.
