Since 2016, the New York Giants have been unable to secure a victory against Dak Prescott. That pattern persisted on Thursday night in New Jersey, where Big Blue fell to the Cowboys 20-15.
As a result of this defeat, the Giants now hold a record of 1-3 overall and 0-2 within the NFC East. Chris Canty, a former Giants player and current ESPN analyst, believes that head coach Brian Daboll is facing serious challenges.
“(Brian Daboll) is toast. He’s done. He’s the biggest loser coming out of last night…Daniel Jones has a better chance of being back next year than Brian Daboll does,” Canty remarked on Get Up Friday morning.
With a head coaching record of 16-21-1, including playoffs, Daboll’s future appears uncertain. He achieved nine wins in his first season in 2022 and even led the team to a playoff victory.
However, since that successful campaign, his record has declined to 7-14, indicating a failure to maximize the potential of a roster that is already lacking in talent.
The organization has struggled to present a competitive team, especially since the era of Eli Manning and Tom Coughlin. Over the past seven seasons, the Giants have made the playoffs just once, with only one playoff win since their Super Bowl victory over the New England Patriots in 2011.
Whether Daboll is underperforming, Jones is struggling as quarterback, or GM Joe Schoen is not maximizing opportunities, the organization finds itself at the bottom of the league standings. For Giants fans, the situation could hardly be worse.
