Throughout his NBA career, Derrick Rose influenced the lives of many individuals, including several teammates. Joakim Noah, in particular, became very close to Rose and offered his support following Rose’s retirement announcement on Thursday.
In a detailed social media tribute shared by ClutchPoints, Noah reflected on their relationship. He stated, “It was clear what you meant to your city even before you got drafted.”
Noah expressed that it was an “honor, a privilege, and a real pleasure sharing the court with you” and emphasized the bond they developed. “WE ARE BROTHERS FOR LIFE!” he proclaimed after his heartfelt message.
Their collaboration spanned several years, primarily with the Chicago Bulls and later the New York Knicks. Upon entering the league with the Bulls, they were viewed as a dynamic duo capable of guiding the team back to the NBA Finals.
However, as Noah pointed out in his post, the team was unable to clinch a championship, despite leading an exciting chapter of Bulls basketball. Noah stood by Rose during numerous pivotal moments, including when Rose suffered a devastating ACL injury.
He witnessed Rose’s comeback efforts and supported him as both a teammate and a friend throughout his rehabilitation.
The outpouring of love following Rose’s retirement highlights the profound impact he had on those around him, including teammates and opponents alike. Clearly, he is cherished by everyone he encountered, especially the players he shared the court with.
