Kurt Angle, WWE Hall of Famer, recently offered high praise for current WWE World Heavyweight Champion Gunther, commending his technical skills in the ring. Renowned as one of the best in-ring performers due to his Olympic wrestling background, Angle built a legacy of being able to take on any opponent.
His matches against stars like Shawn Michaels, Chris Benoit, and Eddie Guerrero remain some of WWE’s most memorable technical battles. While attending K&S WrestleFest, Angle took a moment to acknowledge Gunther, a rising star in the modern era, known for his exceptional technical ability. When asked about the Austrian powerhouse, Angle expressed his admiration.
“He’s an incredible talent. I love his skill set. He’s a fantastic technician. I wouldn’t want to be on the receiving end of any of his chops, though,” Angle joked, referring to Gunther’s notoriously hard strikes.
When questioned if he would have liked to face Gunther during his own prime, Angle was quick to affirm his interest, showing how much he respects the “Ring General.” “Absolutely, yes. I think that match would’ve been incredible. I’d rank it right up there with the likes of Eddie Guerrero and Chris Benoit. Gunther is truly that good,” Angle remarked.
By likening Gunther to some of wrestling’s greatest icons, Angle confirmed what many fans and analysts have been saying — Gunther is an extraordinary talent. The reigning World Heavyweight Champion is currently embroiled in a fierce rivalry with Sami Zayn, who dethroned him after an impressive 666-day Intercontinental Championship reign.
