The new Iveco eMoovy, unveiled at the IAA Transportation 2024 in Hanover, is the product of a partnership between Hyundai and Iveco. Blending Hyundai’s EV platform with an Iveco-designed body, the eMoovy introduces a unique electric vehicle to the market.
The vehicle integrates Hyundai’s trusted electric system, borrowed from their largest electric SUV. It features an 800-volt charging system, enabling ultra-fast charging. With a full charge, it can cover up to 199 miles, and just a 10-minute charge provides 62 miles of range, based on the WLTP cycle.
Equipped with an intelligent battery management system (BMS), the eMoovy has a larger battery capacity compared to similar electric light commercial vehicles, with a 76.1 kWh capacity. The BMS, which monitors battery performance and prevents issues, is the same system used in the Hyundai Ioniq and Genesis models.
For added versatility, the eMoovy includes Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) functionality, allowing power supply both inside and outside the vehicle, making it ideal for multipurpose uses.
Its low ground clearance and flat platform design maximize cargo space, making it perfect for logistics and delivery businesses. Iveco also highlights that the eMoovy is the first electric chassis in the 2.5 to 3.5 tonne medium segment in Europe.
Inside, the eMoovy mirrors the Hyundai Staria’s layout, featuring comfort-focused technology and a clear, intuitive display. Advanced driver assistance systems, such as Forward Collision Warning, Lane Keeping Assist, and Park Assist, enhance safety and ease of use.
Hyundai and Iveco’s collaboration, which began in 2022, continues to make strides. The partnership initially led to the development of the Iveco eDaily fuel cell electric vehicle, followed by the launch of the Iveco BUS E-WAY H2 at Busworld 2023.
In 2024, the two companies announced a supply agreement for an Iveco-branded electric light commercial vehicle (eLCV) for Europe and signed a Letter of Intent to explore electric heavy-duty truck solutions for the European market.
