The WarGames match is set to return for both the men’s and women’s divisions at the 2024 Survivor Series Premium Live Event. Rhea Ripley had the honor of competing in the inaugural women’s WarGames match in 2019 and has since participated in two more editions in 2020 and 2022. She recently shared her dream team choices for a hypothetical WarGames match.
In a recent interview on “Casual Conversations with The Classic,” Ripley discussed her ideal selections if she were to captain a team for this year’s WarGames. “It’d be me; I want to say it would probably be Bianca [Belair], Jade [Cargill], get the team, the tag champs,” Ripley stated.
“Who else would I pick? I feel like I would — it’s hard because they don’t get along, I would have said IYO [Sky] and Kairi [Sane] because IYO’s been in a few, and like … well she’s been in a lot and she’s won a lot of WarGames as well, and then Kairi’s just … she doesn’t ever give up. She smashed her face on the announce table and just continued to go.”
Though Ripley and Belair have never been teammates in a WarGames match, they have faced each other as opponents in 2019 and 2022. Ripley has both opposed and teamed with Sky in the double-caged structure; her team defeated Sky’s team in 2019, but they later joined forces in 2020 and 2022, both of which ended in defeat for Ripley.
Sane made her WarGames debut in 2023 when Damage CTRL lost to Belair, Becky Lynch, Charlotte Flair, and Shotzi, while Cargill has yet to compete in any WarGames or Steel Cage matches throughout her career.
