The return of The Rock to WWE earlier this year sparked a whirlwind of events, culminating in his return to the ring and reunions with John Cena and The Undertaker during WrestleMania 40’s main event. In a recent appearance on “Drinks With Johnny,” Diamond Dallas Page reflected on The Rock’s impact at this major Premium Live Event.
He began by praising Cody Rhodes for taking bold steps to reinvent himself in AEW, finally becoming a leading figure in WWE. DDP highlighted The Rock’s influence, stating that he elevated the entire roster. “He’s undeniably the biggest star out there,” DDP remarked.
He also noted some dissatisfaction among younger wrestlers regarding The Rock’s comeback, a perspective he challenged. “Seriously, The Rock returning is a big deal! He’s the biggest f**king star in the world.”
Initially, many fans speculated about a potential match between The Rock and Roman Reigns at WrestleMania, but those plans evolved. According to DDP, The Rock could have made that showdown happen if desired.
He also shared that he spoke with Rhodes after WrestleMania but missed the opportunity to discuss the event with him. DDP recalled having to persuade Rhodes to continue with the storyline leading up to WrestleMania XL, as Rhodes had some reservations about the direction.
“I could feel he was worried, thinking, ‘Is Rock really going to come in and take this from me?'” DDP said. Finally, he commended fans for expressing their opinions on social media and credited The Rock for responding to their wishes.
