Chad Gable has drawn numerous comparisons to WWE Hall of Famer Kurt Angle since he made his WWE debut in 2015. Such parallels are understandable, as both Gable and Angle share a strong background in amateur wrestling and quickly showcased their natural in-ring talent alongside impressive charisma. However, while Angle enjoyed swift success in WWE, Gable’s rise has taken a bit longer, though he has started to build momentum over the past year.
In a recent appearance at a “K&S WrestleFest” signing, Angle addressed the comparisons to Gable and expressed his feelings about not having a proper match with him. The former Olympic Gold Medalist praised Gable’s recent successes but also expressed disappointment with how WWE had utilized him prior to his current push.
“Chad’s been on fire this past year,” Angle remarked. “I had a brief five-minute match with him, but it didn’t feel like a real contest. I think WWE dropped the ball with him for a while. He may be a bit undersized, but he can compete with anyone. I witnessed him German Suplex Braun Strowman, picking him up off the mat and suplexing him.”
Angle continued to commend Gable’s recent work, enjoying the crowd’s reaction when they chant “You Suck!” at him. “I’m pleased he found a niche that suits him well. However, I don’t see him as the next Kurt Angle; he’s Chad Gable, and he’s proven himself in his own right.”
