As a long-time figure in the field of wrestling, Diamond Dallas Page has observed numerous stars emerge and evolve. While he has great respect for modern talents like Sami Zayn and Cody Rhodes, there’s one individual from his WCW days whom he believes stands above the rest in terms of character.
“Who can top Paul Heyman? I mean, seriously,” Page shared on the “Drinks with Johnny” podcast. “In my opinion, the best character in professional wrestling right now is Paul Heyman.”
DDP has been particularly impressed with Heyman’s role in The Bloodline storyline, where he serves as the “Wiseman” to Roman Reigns’ “Tribal Chief.” Page went further, speculating that Heyman might eventually start his own faction or rival organization within the wrestling world.
“I’ve got a wild theory — completely out there… Paul Heyman gets fired [in storyline], and he goes on to start something new. It can’t be ECW, but whatever he names it, he goes head-to-head with WWE.”
Heyman’s current absence from WWE programming, following his June 28 encounter with The Bloodline on “SmackDown,” has left fans waiting for his return. When Heyman does come back, likely alongside Roman Reigns, he’ll continue to demonstrate the exceptional character work that has earned him praise from both DDP and wrestling fans alike.
