Bray Wyatt, Erick Rowan, and Luke Harper made a memorable entrance into “NXT” in 2012 as the Wyatt Family, quickly establishing themselves as one of WWE’s most intriguing factions throughout the 2010s.
They secured both the WWE and NXT Tag Team Championships, but their true impact lay in their supernatural gimmick and the creative connection they fostered with fans through compelling promos. Former WWE writer Freddie Prinze Jr. recently asserted on “Wrestling with Freddie” that Wyatt represented the last genuine attraction in professional wrestling.
Prinze Jr. remarked, “This was a beautifully horrific faction that truly captured the hearts and minds of wrestling fans. I don’t mean that metaphorically; it changed how people perceived wrestling.
The phone phenomenon became important, resonating with all the fireflies in the crowd. The promos felt so authentic and connected with many, even though he portrayed this supernatural character. Building on that, Bray Wyatt was the last attraction in wrestling. After the Undertaker’s retirement, he was it.”
While Wyatt and Harper are sadly no longer with us, Erick Rowan continues to pay tribute to their legacy on WWE television. He has found success as part of the Wyatt Sicks alongside Bo Dallas, the real-life brother of the former WWE Champion.
