Racing Revival: Bentley Blower Returns to the Track

Car Zero (Bentley Blower)

Bentley’s Blower Continuation Series kicks off with Car Zero, an homage to the iconic 1929 4½-litre supercharged Team Car #2. This vehicle will test its performance and endurance at multiple races throughout 2023, including prestigious tracks in the UK, France, and Belgium.

The Blower Continuation Series marks a unique achievement as the first pre-war continuation series ever created, meticulously handcrafted using contemporary laser-scanned data and original designs.

Car Zero Receives Coveted Historic Technical Passport (Bentley Blower)

Car Zero will embrace the spirit of its historic predecessor, seriously making its debut at the Circuit de la Sarthe, the site of Bentley’s last Le Mans victory in 2003.

Modifications to Car Zero for racing purposes have been minimal and focused on safety enhancements, such as adding a rain light, wing mirrors, towing points, a fire extinguisher, and a battery isolation switch. The car has been awarded a Historic Technical Passport (HTP), certifying its eligibility for FIA-sanctioned historic vehicle events.

Following Car Zero, 12 additional Blower Continuation Series cars have been commissioned through Bentley’s bespoke division, Mulliner. Eight have been delivered, with four still under construction. Some of these will join Car Zero at Le Mans this summer, alongside original Bentley Team cars from the 1920s.

Car Zero recently underwent a rigorous six-hour endurance test at the Goodwood Motor Circuit, driven by Stuart Morley, covering 380 miles at an average speed of 83 miles per hour. The lineup of drivers for the race program, including a mix of seasoned motoring journalists and professional racers, will be announced soon.
