The upcoming Stand & Deliver event for WWE NXT will likely see a new Women’s Champion crowned. Shawn Michaels, WWE Senior Vice President of Talent Development Creative, took to Twitter to announce that qualifying matches will begin tonight to determine the participants for a ladder match for the NXT Women’s Championship at the event.
Michaels shared an update about Roxanne Perez’s condition, stating, “As of Friday morning, Roxanne Perez was discharged from the hospital. However, after numerous tests, her health remains uncertain.
With Stand & Deliver just weeks away, I must announce that we may need to crown a new NXT Women’s Champion. Starting tonight, a series of qualifying matches will take place, with the winners advancing to Stand & Deliver to compete in a Ladder Match for the title.”
During the March 7 episode of NXT, Perez collapsed following her title defense against Meiko Satomura and was taken out of the arena on a stretcher. This incident followed a series of vignettes highlighting her intense preparations for the match against Satomura, the former NXT UK Women’s Champion. Perez has held the NXT Women’s Championship since defeating Mandy Rose on December 13.
Stand & Deliver is scheduled for Saturday, April 1, at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, California. The event will coincide with the first night of WrestleMania 39 and is set to start at 1 PM ET. Additional matches include Bron Breakker defending his NXT Championship against Carmelo Hayes and Grayson Waller facing Johnny Gargano.
