Explore the 2024 Peugeot 408 Premium and GT in Malaysia – 218 PS/300 Nm 1.6L Turbo, RM166k to RM196k

In April, Peugeot made its debut in Malaysia under Stellantis’ management, marking a shift in the brand’s distribution and services in the region. The Peugeot 408, a stylish fastback crossover, is offered in three variants locally assembled at the Stellantis facility in Gurun, Kedah. The lineup begins with the Allure, priced at RM146,055, and progresses through the Premium at RM166,055, culminating with the GT, which costs RM196,055 (on-the-road, excluding insurance).

Built on the EMP2 platform, the 408 stretches 4,687 mm in length, 1,859 mm in width, and 1,487 mm in height, with a 2,787 mm wheelbase. While the models share a sleek design, distinguishing features are apparent: the Allure and Premium feature a chrome-accented grille and full LED headlights, whereas the GT sports a body-colored grille and advanced matrix LED headlights. From the rear, the GT is marked by distinctive 3D ‘claw effect’ LED tail lamps, and the wheels vary, with the Allure and Premium equipped with 18-inch wheels and the GT with 20-inch wheels, each with unique finishes.

All models feature a 1.6L turbocharged engine producing 218 PS and 300 Nm of torque (Peugeot)

Under the hood, all variants are powered by a 1.6-liter PureTech turbocharged four-cylinder engine, producing 218 PS at 5,750 rpm and 300 Nm of torque at 2,000 rpm, paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission.

Interior features reflect the trim level, with the Allure offering vinyl seats, the Premium moving up to leather, and the GT providing Nappa leather with additional comfort features like memory settings and massage functions. The infotainment system includes a 10-inch i-Cockpit display and a 10-inch HD touchscreen, with the GT featuring enhanced 3D display and configurable controls.

Safety features across all models include AEB, ESP with hill start assist, traffic sign recognition, and a range of sensors. The Premium variant introduces advanced safety systems such as adaptive cruise control and blind-spot detection, while the GT adds a comprehensive 360-degree camera system.

The 408 is available in four colors: Obsession Blue, Perla Nera Black, Okenite White, and Artense Grey, with availability varying by variant. As of September 1, a promotional offer provides five years of free service maintenance covering parts for up to 10 services, with customers responsible only for labor costs.
