Stay safe, Ice Cube. Cyclone Alfred is currently intensifying in Australia, where the 55-year-old rapper and actor is staying at a beachfront hotel amid hazardous weather conditions.
“I’m staying clear of it. It’s pretty cool, you know? I haven’t been through a cyclone before,” Ice Cube shared during an interview on The Project. “I can check this off my bucket list, for sure.”
The N.W.A alum jokingly added, “You know, I’m right here on the beach. The beach looks like it is going to be in the lobby in a minute.”
Australian authorities have urged residents in flood-prone areas to evacuate as the cyclone moves toward Brisbane. Storm warnings have been issued for more than 300 miles across Queensland and New South Wales.
Cyclone Alfred could bring winds of up to 96 mph later this week, as reported by the outlet, and is “expected to land as a category-two storm” near Brisbane.
It was also noted that rainfall totals could exceed 31 inches, potentially leading to life-threatening flash floods.

“This is a very rare event for south-east Queensland,” Queensland Premier David Crisafulli stated, per the publication. He emphasized that it has “been many decades” since a cyclone last impacted the region and urged residents to comply with evacuation orders.
Ice Cube is set to perform two shows in Australia—one at the ICC Sydney Theatre in Sydney on March 7 and another at the Sidney Myer Music Bowl in Melbourne on March 9.
In his The Project interview, the Barbershop star dismissed speculation that he is in Australia to film the upcoming Anaconda reboot, which is currently in production there. He was a key cast member in the original 1997 film.
“I never saw them. I was just out doing some sightseeing and hanging out before my Sydney show,” Ice Cube said. “I haven’t seen Jack Black or Paul Rudd around here. I don’t know what you are talking about.”
Last week, actor Selton Mello posted a photo of himself with Black and Rudd on Instagram and revealed that they had reached “the end of the filming” of Anaconda, describing the experience as “unforgettable.”
