Apple TV+ delivered a pleasant surprise to fans by renewing Bad Monkey, despite the season finale leaving the show’s future uncertain.
Adapted from Carl Hiaasen’s novel of the same name, Bad Monkey follows former detective Andrew Yancy (Vince Vaughn), who is demoted to a restaurant inspector before finding himself entangled in a murder investigation after a severed arm washes ashore.
Although Bad Monkey seemingly tied up all its storylines, there was still hope for a continuation. In October 2024, Natalie Martinez—who portrays Rosa, Yancy’s love interest—spoke exclusively about the potential for more, even after the couple’s shocking on-screen split.
“There’s a lot of love between Rosa and Yancy. He’s helped her in so many ways, and their friendship is incredibly strong,” she explained.
“At that moment, he tells her, ‘It’s not a goodbye, it’s a see you later.’ So I think there are endless possibilities—where they remain an important part of each other’s journeys.”

“I’m really intrigued. There are so many challenges ahead, and Rupert is struggling morally. I’m curious to see what happens with Taggie,” MacLean told in December 2024.
“Things are about to get a lot more complicated, which makes Taggie’s journey even more interesting. There are so many ideas floating around—we need season 2 as soon as possible.”
