Tim Tebow and His Wife Demi-Leigh Tebow Announce First Pregnancy

Tim Tebow and his wife, Demi-Leigh Tebow, are thrilled to announce they are expecting their first child.

“Baby Tebow,” the couple captioned in a heartwarming Instagram Reel shared on Tuesday, January 14, to reveal Demi-Leigh’s pregnancy. They joyfully disclosed that their little one is expected to arrive this summer.

In the video, the former NFL quarterback, 37, kissed his wife before showing a sonogram of their baby to the camera. Demi-Leigh, who is 16 weeks along, radiated happiness during the maternity photo shoot, dressed in a figure-hugging white dress that beautifully highlighted her growing baby bump.

“We are just so excited and so over the moon to be having a baby together,” Demi-Leigh, 29, shared with People on Tuesday. “I feel like every time I say, ‘Tim’s going to be a dad!’ it feels so surreal.”

Tim and Demi-Leigh Tebow Recall Language Barrier Early in Their Romance

Tim expressed his excitement about the journey ahead, saying he is “honored for the privilege of getting the responsibility and the joy of being mom and dad.”

The couple’s announcement comes just days before their fifth wedding anniversary. They tied the knot in Cape Town, South Africa, on January 20, 2020, following a yearlong engagement.

The retired athlete first met Demi-Leigh in 2018 at the Tim Tebow Foundation’s annual Night to Shine event, a prom created for individuals with special needs.

“Demi had a little sister with severe special needs. [She] was kind of our matchmaker,” Tim exclusively told in August 2024.

Demi-Leigh’s sister, Franje, who had cerebellar agenesis, passed away in May 2019. “Demi and her family were invited [to Night to Shine], but unfortunately her sister was too sick to go. But through that, we connected and never stopped talking.”

While the pair quickly bonded, Demi-Leigh later admitted that there were some challenges at the beginning of their relationship due to a “language barrier.”

“Loving in a second language is different,” Demi-Leigh explained, recounting a funny moment from early in their relationship. She asked Tim, “Remember the first time after our first date, I told you, ‘Keep well,’ and you thought I was dismissing you?”

Tim reflected on the memory, telling Us Weekly, “Her first language is Afrikaans, not English,” as Demi-Leigh is originally from South Africa.

“I was like, ‘Keep well? … I don’t know if I’m going to see you again!’” he laughed, recalling their initial miscommunications.

A Shared Desire for Parenthood

Despite the early language hurdles, the couple wed in 2020 and were frequently asked about starting a family soon after.

“I don’t know if we’re running the four-minute offense or we’re playing defense,” Tim joked during an interview with Extra in November 2020. “We’re trying to figure out what’s next for us.”

At the time, Tim emphasized that both he and Demi-Leigh “definitely want” to have children and were eagerly awaiting the “right time” to become parents. Now, with their growing family on the way, the couple couldn’t be more excited for the new chapter ahead.
