Tiger Woods’ life story is set to be adapted into a feature film.
Amazon MGM Studios has acquired the film rights to The Tiger Slam, Kevin Cook’s recent biography about the legendary golfer, according to studio representatives.
Barack and Michelle Obama are in discussions to produce the project through their production company, Higher Ground, while Reinaldo Marcus Green, best known for directing the tennis biopic King Richard, is being considered to direct.
Published in December 2024, The Tiger Slam is described as a “gripping, inside-the-ropes account of an astonishing streak of victories that left Woods’s rivals scrambling to keep up,” per the book’s synopsis.
Cook, a former Sports Illustrated senior editor and editor-in-chief of Golf Magazine, provides firsthand accounts from some of golf’s most prominent figures in the book, including “Tiger’s caddie, his coach, his opponents, his idols and others, all offering fresh insight into the electrifying highs of his victories and the obstacles on and off the course that threatened his relentless pursuit of perfection.”

Woods, 49, recently participated in the inaugural TGL golf league. While he had been eyeing the upcoming Masters tournament—where he made the cut for a record-breaking 24th consecutive time last year—he recently underwent surgery after rupturing his Achilles tendon.
“I am back home now and plan to focus on my recovery and rehab,” Woods shared on social media.
Additionally, the golfer revealed last month that his mother, Kutilda Woods, passed away at age 81.
“My Mom was a force of nature all her own, her spirit was simply undeniable,” he wrote on Feb. 4.
Under the Higher Ground banner, the Obamas have produced a range of film and television projects, including Rustin, Leave the World Behind, and recent docuseries Our Oceans and Court of Gold.
Green, following the success of 2021’s King Richard, went on to direct and co-write the 2024 Bob Marley biopic Bob Marley: One Love.
