The Handmaid’s Tale Star Madeline Brewer Reveals Plans For Upcoming Wedding With Jack Thompson-Roylance

Madeline Brewer is excited to be planning her wedding! The 32-year-old Handmaid’s Tale actress got engaged to cinematographer Jack Thompson-Roylance in January 2024.

During an interview at PaleyFest LA 2025 on Wednesday, March 26, Brewer shared an update on the wedding planning process.

“[It’s going] great. We’re so excited,” Brewer said at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, California. “He’s here somewhere. Wedding planning is insane, especially having two shows come out in April, but we’re getting through it.”

Brewer, who portrays Janine in The Handmaid’s Tale, is preparing for the premiere of the series’ sixth and final season, set to debut on Hulu on April 8. Additionally, she will star as Bronte in the final season of You, which premieres on Netflix on April 24.

Just three months after the release of her two major shows, Brewer will marry Thompson-Roylance.

“We get married in July,” she revealed, noting that wedding planning has been split evenly between the couple. “50/50 for sure.”

Since Thompson-Roylance is from England, the couple will marry there. Brewer, who lives in the United States, mentioned that planning a wedding across the Atlantic has posed some challenges, but their excitement for the big day remains unchanged.

“Planning from across the pond is a little bit difficult, but we’re having a great time,” she said. “We’re so excited. We both love a party and yeah, it’s going to be fun.”

Brewer went on to describe the wedding vibe: “It’s like we’ve got Bridgerton during the day and then Saltburn at night. Yeah. It’s going to be fun.”

She first shared the news of her engagement on Instagram in July 2024, posting four black-and-white photos of herself and her fiancé.

“a few shots from our gorgeous day with @jennyandersonphoto in the park at 73rd (where in January @deadbeatjack proposed and then we went to Bemelmans and drank martinis and I cried a lot),” Brewer captioned the post.

“Thank you Jenny for capturing a bit of the magic of being so madly in love with your best friend that you’re gonna MARRY ‘em (or maybe not if he doesn’t keep his mustache. time will tell). I love you, Jack.”

Two months before the official announcement, Brewer teased the engagement with a playful caption on Instagram in May 2024: “fries friends fiancé in my mouth.

” In the post, her engagement ring was visible on her hand, and she later wore the ring to a Carolina Herrera event in April 2024.

Brewer and Thompson-Roylance began dating in late 2022.

While Brewer is preparing to trade her Handmaid’s Tale red robes for a white wedding dress, her character, Janine, has left a lasting impact on her, especially in how she views having children.

“I think, strangely, and maybe this is TMI, too revealing, but Janine is a mother, I’m not. But falling in love and finding the person that I want to be with for the rest of my life has made me totally reconsider the idea of having children,” Brewer explained.

“And because I’ve played Janine and experienced things… Not literally, but I’ve experienced some of the things that she’s experienced, I feel more capable of taking on more hardship.”

“She’s really taught me a lot,” Brewer added. “She’s made me grow up in a lot of ways.” The final season of The Handmaid’s Tale will premiere on Hulu on April 8, with new episodes airing weekly through May 27.
