Apple TV+ has officially renewed “Ted Lasso” for a fourth season, with Jason Sudeikis set to return as the beloved, pun-loving, mustachioed football coach.
While no other casting details have been officially confirmed, previous reports indicated that options had been picked up for Hannah Waddingham, Brett Goldstein, and Jeremy Swift.
“As we all continue to live in a world where so many factors have conditioned us to ‘look before we leap,’” Sudeikis said in a statement. “In season four, the folks at AFC Richmond learn to LEAP BEFORE THEY LOOK, discovering that wherever they land, it’s exactly where they’re meant to be.”
Jack Burditt (“Nobody Wants This,” “Modern Family,” “30 Rock”) has joined Season 4 as executive producer under his newly signed overall deal with Apple TV+. Sudeikis will continue to serve as executive producer in addition to starring.
Also serving as executive producers are Brendan Hunt (who also portrays Coach Beard), Toheeb Jimoh, Joe Kelly, Jane Becker, Jamie Lee, and Bill Wrubel. Goldstein is attached as a writer and executive producer alongside Leanne Bowen.
Bill Lawrence executive produces the series through his company, Doozer Productions, along with Jeff Ingold and Liza Katzer. The writing and production team for the new season includes Sara Walker and Phoebe Walsh as writers and producers, with Sasha Garron serving as co-producer.
Julia Lindon is also credited as a writer, while Dylan Marron takes on the role of story editor. The series is produced by Warner Bros. Television, where Doozer holds an overall deal, in partnership with Universal Television.
“Ted Lasso” was developed by Sudeikis, Lawrence, Kelly, and Hunt, drawing inspiration from a preexisting format and characters originally created for NBC Sports.
“‘Ted Lasso’ has been nothing short of a juggernaut, inspiring a passionate fanbase all over the world, and delivering endless joy and laughter, all while spreading kindness, compassion, and unwavering belief,” said Matt Cherniss, head of programming for Apple TV+.

“Everyone at Apple is thrilled to be continuing our collaboration with Jason and the brilliant creative minds behind this show.”
In addition to the previously mentioned cast members, “Ted Lasso” has featured performances from Juno Temple, Phil Dunster, Nick Mohammed, Toheeb Jimoh, Cristo Fernández, Kola Bokinni, Billy Harris, and James Lance.
“If ever there was a show the world needed more of right now, it would be ‘Ted Lasso,’” said Channing Dungey, chairman and CEO of Warner Bros. Television Group and WBD US Networks.
“We — along with countless fans around the globe — have been rooting for another season, and it is an incredible feeling to be able to say, ‘Yes, it’s happening!’ We thank our partners at Apple and can’t wait for Jason and the entire ‘Ted Lasso’ dream team to step back onto the pitch and deliver another season of this phenomenal series.”
This announcement finally puts an end to the lingering question of whether the widely adored series would return for a fourth season. Season 3 largely tied up the show’s major storylines, with AFC Richmond making its way up the Premier League rankings and Ted choosing to return to Kansas to be with his son.
Despite the seemingly definitive conclusion, fans have remained persistent in their calls for more “Ted Lasso,” while cast and creators have given mixed signals over the show’s continuation.
Debuting in 2020, the series quickly gained a dedicated following, with its uplifting themes of joy and kindness resonating deeply at a time when the world was grappling with the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. The third season aired in 2023.
Over its run, “Ted Lasso” earned a remarkable 61 Emmy nominations, securing 13 wins. Among its accolades were back-to-back victories for Best Comedy Series, as well as consecutive wins for both Sudeikis and Goldstein in their respective categories.
