Nina Dobrev is fully embracing her fiancée era.
Nearly six months after The Vampire Diaries alum and Olympic skier Shaun White got engaged, she revealed that their hectic schedules have prevented them from diving into wedding planning.
“I was in Australia shooting a movie and then Christmas and New Year’s,” Nina shared in an exclusive interview with Francesca Amiker.
“We’re just enjoying being engaged at this point and being in that sort of phase because a lot of your life is—you have a boyfriend for half of your life and then you have a husband for half of your life but the fiancé period is very short.”
As she put it, “I really want to enjoy it and not rush that process.”
And the 36-year-old—who began dating Shaun in 2019—admitted that there’s something special about this phase of their relationship.
“It’s so fun to say fiancé,” she gushed, while also noting that when they do start planning, she has one major priority in mind: “My number one goal is to find out how to make it as low-impact as possible.”
Indeed, along with savoring her engagement, Nina has been focused on minimizing her carbon footprint.

The Perks of Being a Wallflower actress, who has teamed up with SC Johnson to promote awareness for World Recycling Day on March 18, emphasized that she strongly believes in the power of individual actions—both in wedding planning and in daily life—to positively impact the environment.
“Absolutely every single person counts and matters,” Nina asserted. “It makes a big difference.”
But SC Johnson is looking at the bigger picture as well. The company is raising awareness about plastic waste in oceans through its advocacy mascot, Zuzu the Hermit Crab, and has even launched a petition urging businesses nationwide to adopt better recycling systems.
As Nina highlighted, “We really have to all band together and join the Zuzu movement.”
For her part, she’s incorporating sustainable choices into her life wherever possible. In fact, when it comes to her upcoming wedding with Shaun, she is particularly eager to make their celebration as eco-friendly as possible.
“I was never one of those girls who dreamt of what a dream wedding would be,” she admitted. “So I’d have to do a lot of research and find out the areas of improvement.”
Whenever their big day arrives, one thing is certain—Nina and Shaun will ensure it’s as green as can be.
