Miles Teller possibly heading to… Nazareth? The 37-year-old actor recently addressed speculation about his potential role as Jesus Christ in an upcoming Martin Scorsese project. However, Teller confirmed that he would not be portraying the religious figure.
“Dude, when I read that, I was calling my agent, like, ‘Did Marty Scorsese… has this script gotten lost in the shuffle or something?’” Teller shared during The Gorge red carpet event on Wednesday, February 12. “That’s a tough one. Playing Jesus?”
Although Teller dismissed the rumor, he hinted that he might be open to the opportunity. “Have you met with Jesus?” the actor joked. “I’m like, ‘There have been times in my life, for sure.’ A little come-to-Jesus moment.”
Despite the chatter, Teller has not been in discussions with the renowned director, 82, regarding any portrayal of the son of God.
(It was officially announced on Tuesday, February 11, that Teller would instead take on the role of Italian cyclist and WWII hero Gino Bartali in an upcoming biopic.)
“I think that’s just one of those things that got put out there, and I have no idea how or why,” Teller explained. “I think pretty much any actor, if Marty Scorsese offers you something, you say, ‘Yes, and I’ll figure it out.’ No, I haven’t gotten the call for that one.”

During #TheGorge premiere, Teller shut down speculation about starring in Martin Scorsese’s upcoming film on the life of Jesus.
Teller attended The Gorge red carpet event in Los Angeles on Wednesday alongside his wife, Keleigh Teller, who dazzled in a gold gown. The Top Gun: Maverick star also posed for photos with his co-star, Anya Taylor-Joy.
The premiere came just days after Teller celebrated the Philadelphia Eagles’ Super Bowl LIX victory over the Kansas City Chiefs in New Orleans. A devoted Eagles fan, he confirmed at Wednesday’s event that he celebrated with NFL players following the February 9 win.
“I was there at the game. And then, afterwards, I was with a bunch of the players and stuff. It was exciting,” he told People. “They were very hyped.”
Teller also discussed the Eagles’ 40-22 triumph over the Chiefs in an interview with Fox Sports on Sunday.
“What a beating. Every aspect of the game,” he commented. “The team just kept getting stronger as the season went on. Just no stress.” The actor confirmed he was “absolutely” attending the team’s afterparty.
“I’ve been in New Orleans for, like, four days—about two days too long,” he quipped. “I got a little juice in the tank, baby. Let’s go.
