During her appearance on the Not Skinny But Not Fat podcast, Kelly Ripa opened up about her and husband Mark Consuelos’ contrasting preferences when it comes to intimacy. The Live with Kelly and Mark co-host shared that while she prefers nighttime intimacy, her husband is more inclined to mornings. “Men are morning people,” Ripa joked, adding that Consuelos, like many men, doesn’t quite grasp her aversion to early encounters.
Co-Hosting Challenges Lead to New Bedroom Rules, Humor Eases Their Daily Adjustments
Since Consuelos joined Ripa as co-host in April 2023, their personal dynamics have had to shift along with their professional lives. Ripa recalled telling her husband that things couldn’t always go his way, especially now that they spend their mornings together at work. “There needs to be a yin and a yang here,” she said, emphasizing the need for balance. Their once-private routine now involves nighttime negotiations rather than spontaneous morning affection.

Ripa shared a humorous take on their less-than-romantic bedtime habits, including retainers and nasal strips, calling them “repulsive” in a playful way. She laughed about how men don’t seem to care about such things, even joking that the male anatomy “has a brain of its own.” The lighthearted tone continued as she expressed mock horror at the idea of morning sex, saying she’s already “pre-disgusted for tomorrow morning.”
Morning Show Routine Cools Intimacy, But Love and Laughter Keep Bond Strong
Interestingly, working together on a morning show has actually decreased Consuelos’ enthusiasm for early intimacy, which Ripa jokingly called a “miracle.” She quipped that the show should continue until her husband reaches erectile dysfunction age, adding, “He’s in his mid-50s now. Shouldn’t that be happening?” The joke highlighted her quick wit and candidness when discussing their evolving relationship.
Despite their differences, Ripa spoke fondly of their relationship. The couple met in 1994 on the set of All My Children, playing love interests. They married in 1996 and have three children together. In a previous interview, Ripa described their early bond as one that fostered “comfort, confidence, and experimentation.” Consuelos once told her, “You check off all the boxes for me,” affirming the strength and longevity of their partnership.
